I Don't Do 'SEO'

Why not?
Simply because the term SEO, as applied by traditional Search Engine Optimizers, is no longer a viable way to make a website perform well in the race to the top of the Search Results.

Google is constantly evolving new techniques to detect the artificial means by which Optimizers try to manipulate its search results.

 
 

Is Google moving the goal posts?

Not at all, despite the fact that this is conceivably the single most common excuse used by SEOs to explain why websites they have 'optimized' have taken a sudden nose-dive in the Google rankings.

In my many years of experience with Google and its workings, not once have I known it to change its criteria of what makes a quality website. As time goes on, it has simply become more adept at weeding out various shady SEO techniques.

In fact, Google's own Webmaster Guidelines have always made it abundantly clear that it disapproves of what it terms as 'tricks intended to improve search engine rankings', and will penalize these accordingly.

But if I don't do SEO, what do I do?

In simple terms, instead of trying to trick Google, I will show you how to turn your website into the best resource it can possibly be for its visitors, and so improve its rankings in a natural way.

SEO is no longer about keyword density percentages or making your target keywords bold or italic a certain number of times on each page. With the passing of time, Google has become far too smart to be fooled by such simplistic approaches, and the emphasis for search engine success is now off the 'formulaic' approaches taken by most traditional-style SEOs.

Instead, what's needed to win the race to the top Google's rankings is an approach driven by 'relevance' to the target keyword or phrase in question, based on Google's own quality guidelines and its need to deliver the most relevant possible results for any given search. And this is exactly why I don't do 'SEO'.
